Sr. Shirley Ann Davis was honored May 6 by the College of St. Joseph in Rutland, Vermont at the Provider Scholarship Gala. She was one of four honorees selected due to their outstanding leadership in the community, and their ethical, moral and altruistic standards that exemplify the college’s mission.
Sr. Shirley’s nearly 50-year career in education included teaching and administrative positions at Christ the King and Mount St. Joseph Schools as well as serving as assistant superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Burlington for 11 years. She has also been a long standing member of the college’s Board of Trustees and she is an active participant in the local Foster Grandparent program.
In her remarks during the program, Sr. Shirley made reference to the Sisters of St. Joseph, who founded the college sixty years ago. “As the college continues to grow and has become a real asset to the Rutland area, we Sisters are delighted with this gift to Vermont,” she said.
Over the years, Sisters of St. Joseph served as presidents, deans, professors, dorm directors and trustees, among others.
